Grow Your Business With The Power of a Mind Pt2

Business Growth

By Marc Ford, Coach, Author and Editor at YBKBS

“I’m starting to think this world is just a place for us to learn that we need each other more than we want to admit.”

Richelle E. Goodrich

Dam that’s true.

Running your own business can be a brilliant experience. On the flip side it can also be a horrible experience.

In over 10 years in business the one common theme I’ve found amongst small business owners and entrepreneurs is ‘pride’.

Now depending on what you read, you’ll find that ‘pride’ which always tends to come before a fall, is considered the worst of the 7 deadly sins. And in truth many business owners struggle to communicate what’s actually happening in their business good or bad to their partners, their friends and relatives.

So there really should be a place to talk with other business owners where honesty is encouraged, appreciated and considered sacrosanct in an environment where we can learn as much from our peers as they can learn from us. So, let’s talk about another 6 reasons why Mastermind groups could change you, your small business and your life….

A Mastermind Group is for business owners who want to improve their business and who are willing to put the effort in and thus get great results out.

A Mastermind Group is not a Networking Group or A Coffee Club – it is for individuals who are serious about growing their business and who have the discipline to follow through.

Here are 6 MORE reasons to consider either joining or maybe even starting your own Mastermind Business Group…

1) Mastermind for Focus & clarity

Sometimes the day to day activities of running a business can distract us.

The Group will keep you on track – just when you are losing focus, the group will remind you of your purpose and why you are in business.

2) Better Decision making

It is easy to put off a decision – but with a Mastermind Group you have your own due-diligence team to give you the confidence you need when making an important decision.

3) Increased Confidence

Better decision making means greater confidence – greater confidence spreads through your organisation and inspires everyone to perform better.

You will feel good. You will feel more confident.

4) Creativity

Looking for new ideas for your business?

Have a new idea for your business?

Want objective feedback and help with that idea?

The group will provide more ideas and constructive feedback on your ideas.

5) Increased Profits

Many businesses leave money (profits) on the table – the purpose of the group is to help you take full advantage of all the opportunities that surround you and build your business into the huge success it deserves to be.

6) Discover new business partners and cross promotion.

Collaboration is the name of the game. You may find someone in the group that is a perfect fit to work on a project with you. Or, you may be the perfect person to help another member as well.

The group works together collaboratively, to achieve more together.

So take a minute. Have a think.

How much better could your business be if you started or joined a Mastermind Group?

Infact…how much better would YOU be if you joined a mastermind group?

I’m Marc Ford, the original ‘Best Kept Business Secret’ and you can find out more about me and my Mastermind groups below, and I’ll se you tomorrow for Part 3.

What is This “Culture” Thing, Anyway? (And What Does it Mean for Small Businesses?)

Chances are, if you follow business news at all (and we assume you do if you’re reading this platform!) you will have heard a lot about Brewdog in the last couple of weeks.

Without rehashing the whole situation, here’s an executive summary: dozens of former employees signed an open letter accusing the craft beer firm and its co-founder James Watt of fostering a “culture of fear.” Ex-staff members claim they were bullied, treated like objects, and that the company’s culture was “toxic.” You can read more in this excellent piece by Kalyeena Makortoff and Rob Davies for The Guardian.  But following this sage got me thinking: what is this “culture” thing we hear so much about, why does it matter, and how does it pertain to small business owners?
